Dear Valued Friends:
We are writing to tell you about exciting news! As of August 1, 2008, our business name will change from Million Air Monterey to Del Monte Aviation. As you may know, Del Monte Aviation was the name of our FBO prior to our becoming a Million Air franchisee ten years ago in 1998.
For some, the name, “Del Monte” may be reminiscent of canned pineapples. However, the name “Del Monte” is also considered an important part of the history of the Monterey Peninsula. The name often was used over the years as the Peninsula became known as a hotspot to visit for luxurious and professional services and golf in a spectacular landscape. For example, in 1880, Monterey’s grand and most opulent hotel was called the Hotel Del Monte (now the Naval Postgraduate School). Then, in the 1890’s, as the game of golf made its journey west, the Hotel Del Monte attached the name to its new golf course (now locally known as the “Old Del Monte” course). Old Del Monte is considered to be the oldest golf course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi!
Our FBO also has its place in Monterey’s history. This FBO has operated on the Monterey Airport since 1946 and was called “Del Monte Aviation.” The FBO operated under that name for over 50 years. Because of its well respected history, we are resurrecting this classic name.
We assure you there is no change in ownership, management or personnel. We are in the same comfortable and charming building. Our goal as the “new” Del Monte Aviation is to continue to provide you with the same excellence and the same level of professional service provided to our customers during our tenure as a Million Air base for over ten years, and we look forward to serving you as Del Monte Aviation in the future.
While we do not sell pineapple in a can, we can help you travel to where pineapples are grown, or almost anywhere.
